Read the following lesson-13 of Class IV Enalish book ‘Blossom, Pan-4 Lesson : THE LITTLE RED HEN
One day the Little Red Hen was scratching in the farmyard, when she found a gran of wheat
“Who will plant the wheat ?” said she.
“Not l”, said the duck.
“Not I”, said the cat.
“Not l”, said the dog.
“Very well then”, said the Little Red Hen. “I will.” So she planted the grain of wheat.

Answer the following questions:
(a) What is the meaning of plant’ in the above story ? You may write in Hindi.
(b) Who found the grain of wheat and where ?
(c) In the above story, the duck, cat and dog are very hard working. True or False
(d) In the above story, the word is used for how many characters.
(e) In the above story, the word ‘she’ is used for whom.

3. Give examples of at least four Homophones,

4. What is deductive approach of Grammar teaching ? Clarify with exa

What is inductive approach of Grammar teaching ? Clarify with example.

5. What are some of the guiding principles for material evaluation ? Enlist at least four of them

Write the name of two lessons of English books from any elementary level class and tell which kind of evaluating material you will use for that lesson.

Direction (Q. Nos. 7 & 8): Read the following passage carefully and answer the questions

There are several birds which are very common in our locality. The house sparrow is one of them. Sparrows are found in plenty in out locality. They like to live with people. So they make themselves quite at home in houses. Sparrows build their nests wherever they can-on window sills, the top of doors and almirahs, and in nooks and corners. Their nest can be found in holes and niches in walls and on roofs and in the most unlikely places, even inside the folds of hanging curtains! Their chirping pleases us but at times they are also a nuisance. (Source : Blossom Part – 5, Lesson – 3 THE HOUSE SPARROW)

7. What would be the purpose of including this chapter in English Textbook of class V? Write at least two purposes.

9. What are the principles of second language teaching ? Explain with suitable examples.

What are the different skills of English language? Do they need to be assessed separately? Give reasons for your answer and also suggest one activity for assessing each skill. If you think that all skills can be tested simultaneously, give one activity that could be done it successfully and economically.

10. Take any lesson from English textbooks of elementary level and make a learning plan.
